Summer Olympics

The opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics is coming up this Friday! Whether you adore watching individual events or team events, there’s something for everybody else.

The London Olympics present an opportunity also to cheer on current and former Trojans! There could be more than 30 athletes playing sports such as water polo, volleyball, and track representing the Trojan family. There will also be lots of present USC coaches whom will be lending their coaching expertise during the games that are olympic.

USC has a long tradition of planning Olympic athletes. From 1904 to 2008, there has been almost 400 athletes whom either went to the university before, during, or after their Olympic competition. USC has sent more athletes to the Olympics than virtually any college and our athletes have received a grand total of 262 medals.

The Olympics really are a time for you cheer on our country’s athletes and also unite together on a global platform. We enjoy watching the beach volleyball matches and I’m excited to see exactly how far the 2 former Trojans contending in coastline volleyball go! The Expo Line is Finally Open!!!

The expansion of Los Angeles’s light rail train system (LA Metro) has finally opened after six years of anticipation. Welcome Right Back, Students!

As you can imagine, it’s a serious busy time on campus! It is exciting to see freshmen that are new in and beginning to realize what their college experience might entail. It’s refreshing to see familiar faces returning to campus after studying abroad or working over the summer. Most of all, we’re excited to see our entire community back together in one place at the start of a fresh year that is academic.
